An emergency power transfer apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to prevent a distribution box from being burnt by excessive heat by remotely controlling the transfer apparatus. Plural voltage sources having commercial and preliminary voltage sources are applied to stationary terminals. Movable terminals(30), which are connected to a load side, are rotated around a switching axis. A driving unit drives the switching axis. Disconnection monitoring sensors(40-70) monitor a contact state between the stationary terminal and the movable terminal, when electric power is supplied to the load side. R, S, T, and N-phase movable terminals are moved between the stationary terminals around the switching axis. A controller controls the driving unit according to the monitoring information from the disconnection monitoring sensors.
