APPARATUS USING AMBIENT LIGHT AS BACK-LIGHT AND METHOD FOR CORRECTING COLOR THEREIN

A device for using ambient light as backlight and a color correction method thereof are provided to correct color distortion generated by the change of ambient light when using the ambient light as backlight. A device for using ambient light as backlight includes a color correction line generation part(210) for generating color correcting lines for correcting color conversion lines in case of using ambient light as backlight to color conversion lines for original backlight, and a color correcting part(220) for correcting color by using the color correcting lines. The color correcting lines convert RGB color spaces to XYZ color spaces. The color conversion lines for the original backlight are for backlight when the ambient light is not used as the backlight. The color correction line generation part has an ambient light sensing part(211), an ADC part(213), a spectrum estimation part(215) for estimating distribution of ambient light spectrum, and a color correction line calculating part(217) for calculating the color conversion lines for the ambient light for converting the RGB color spaces to the XYZ color spaces for the ambient light by using the estimated spectrum distribution and calculating the color correction lines by using the color conversion lines for the original backlight and the ambient light.
