A menu navigation device of a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to reduce the number of key strokes needed for moving among menu items included in different menu groups and to be effective in case that two or more tasks, included in different menu groups, are repeated. A menu navigation device of a portable terminal comprises a storage unit(21), a display unit(23), an inputting unit(24), and a controller(22). The storage unit(21) stores information on menus. The display unit(23) displays two and more menu items included in different menu groups. The inputting unit(24), composed of plural keys, enables a user to move among menus or to select menus. The controller(22) makes the display unit(23) display the menus through the information on the menus stored at the storage unit(21) and changes the displaying of the menus on the display unit(23) according to signals inputted via the inputting unit(24).
