<p>A first metal layer (24) is deposited on top of a conducting region of an electroforming tool and its exposed surface is pacified, then a second metal layer is electroformed on top of the pacified surface of the first layer, and then the resulting metal layer assembly is removed from the tool and coated (32) on the side of the exposed metal layers, after which the second layer and associated coating layer portions are removed. A process for forming a coating on one side only of a metal object containing at least one opening (34), especially a nozzle plate with at least one nozzle hole for use in a printer, comprises the following steps: (A) providing an electroforming tool which includes at least one electrically insulating region surrounded by an electrically conducting region; (B) electroforming a first metal layer (24) on top of the conducting region so that the insulating region is partly covered by overgrow; (C) pacifying the exposed surface of the metal layer; (D) electroforming a second metal layer on top of the pacified surface of the first layer until the entire conducting region is covered by the first and second layers; (E) removing the first/second layer assembly from the tool; (F) applying at least one coating layer to the side of the assembly on which surfaces of both the first and second layers are exposed; and (G) removing the second layer and the coating layer portions bonded to it.</p> |
