#CMT# #/CMT# The headlight has a light source mounted inside a reflector and emitting a light beam. A cut-off unit (2) has covers (23, 24) mounted on a pivoting axle (34) and driven in rotation by a direct current motor (31), where the unit moves between two positions each providing a lighting function. An actuating system (3) rotatively moves the cut-off unit from one position to the other position. Another actuating system (4) blocks the rotary movement of the former actuating system and generates a third position of the cut-off unit, where the third position provides a third lighting function. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used in a motor vehicle (claimed) for providing three lighting functions such as main beam function, dim light function, and town light, motorway light or adverse weather light function. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The covers are mounted on the same pivoting axle and are driven in rotation by the single direct current motor, thus permitting to obtain the third lighting function e.g. town light function, without complicating controls of the covers, while limiting the encumbrance of the headlight due to the third function. The arrangement of the covers is such that one of the cover does not interfere with the cut-off of the other cover, thus preventing the former cover from intercepting the light beam emitted by the light source.
