<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact optical transmission device which prevents an optical fiber from being damaged. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmission device 10 includes an optical fiber 16 having a core 12 and a clad 14. Further, the optical transmission device 10 includes an optical path conversion part 14 which enlarges an incident angle of a laser beam made incident to a clad 14. Furthermore, the optical transmission device 10 includes a light radiation part 22 which has a refractive index equal to or more than that of the clad 14, is disposed around the clad 14, is optically connected with the clad 14 and radiates a beam reaching the circumference wall of the clad 14 to the outer part of the clad. Thereby, the laser beam, which is made incident to the clad 14 at such an incident angle as to be propagated through the clad over a long distance heretofore, is made to be a laser beam propagated through the clad in a short distance by the optical path conversion part 14 and is radiated from the light radiation part 22 to the outer part of the optical fiber.
