<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability by reducing the brightness reduction of a visible light LED due to heat-generation in the case of successively lighting a plurality of visible light LEDs, projecting the light on a display medium and displaying an image, in a visible light LED light source apparatus, an image projection system using the light source and a method of driving the visible light LED. <P>SOLUTION: Regarding the illumination unit 2 for projecting the light on a reflection type screen 6 and displaying the image, the unit 2 includes: the LED 22 composed of LED chips 22R, 22G and 22B; and a lighting control means 70 for successively lighting the LED chips while dividing the lighting time domain of the LED chips in a periodical fixed time slot. The lighting control means 70 includes a waveform pattern arithmetic formation part for forming a modulation signal of lighting at least one of the LEDs chips 22R, 22G and 22B with a lighting duty smaller than the lighting time range thereof. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
