摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording device provided with a magnetic recording medium whose corrosion resistance is remarkably enhanced while reduction of recording density is suppressed, to provide its manufacturing method and to provide an evaluation method and an evaluation device for obtaining the magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording device provided with the magnetic recording medium formed by sequentially layering a magnetic layer, a protective layer containing carbon and a lubricant layer on a substrate, a lubricant used for the lubricant layer includes a polymer having at least either of a perfluoro alkane bond and a perfluoropolyether bond in its main chain and an atomic ratio (F/C ratio) of fluorine to carbon on the surface of the magnetic recording medium obtained by irradiating the surface of the magnetic recording medium with helium ions by 2 keV at 15°ion beam incident angle and measuring energy change of the scattered helium ions by a co-axial impact collision ion scattering spectroscopy is specified to be greater or equal to 1.5.
