A machine for making cords comprises a plurality of tubular members 5, each of which rotates about its own axis whilst rotating at the same time about a common axis 2. Each tubular member 5 contains at least one pivoted cradle 9 held by gravity against rotation, and bobbins 11 carried by said cradle or cradles and from which threads F 1 are drawn via pulleys 14 to guides 13, 15 on the axis of rotation of the tubular member 5 such that as the threads emerge from each guide 15 they are twisted together as at 16d and these twsted threads are then jointly twisted with the twisted threads 16a-16c, issuing from the' other tubular members 5, to form a cord. |
