PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader that has a simple configuration in which a document is set, with its image side facing up. SOLUTION: A document table 100 is turnably supported by a device body 10A. A document 70 set on the placing plate 103 of the document table 100, with its image side facing up, is held by a document-holding part 110. The document table 100 is freely turned between the position, where the document is set and the reading position where the image side of the document on the document table 100 is disposed opposite to the device body 10A.
