PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce misdetections by efficiently surely preventing a wave receiving element from outputting ultrasonic waves, received directly from a wave transmitter as a wave receiving element and enhancing the SN ratio for an object detector. SOLUTION: The object detector comprises the wave transmitter 1 for transmitting the ultrasonic wave SW in the detection region; a plurality of the wave-receiving elements 3 for converting an ultrasonic waves RW (reflected waves of the ultrasonic wave SW) into a wave-receiving signal that is an electrical signal, by receiving the ultrasonic waves RW reflected on an object to be measured 2 in the detection region; a silencing means 4 for preventing the wave-receiving element 3 from outputting the ultrasonic wave DW received directly from the wave transmitter 1 as the wave-receiving signal; and a detection means for detecting the object to be measured 2, by finding the distance, up to the object to be measured 2 corresponding to the time, until the ultrasonic wave SW is received after being transmitted, on the basis of the wave-receiving signal of the wave-receiving element 3 and finding the azimuth of the object to be measured 2, corresponding to the time difference of each wave-receiving signal in each wave-receiving element 3. The silencing means 4 outputs an electrical signal with a phase reverse to that of the ultrasonic waves SW transmitted from the wave transmitter 1 to a detection part 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
