PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a very dangerous problem that, when furniture with an existing magnet latch tilts in an earthquake even a little, things stored in the furniture hit a door, open the door and are bounced out, and especially in case of a cupboard storing fragile tableware such as glasses and pottery, the tableware bounced out is not only broken but also hits people. SOLUTION: The latch is composed of an engaging body 1 for mounting on a door and a receiving body 15 for mounting on a bottom plate 16 or a top plate. The engaging body 1 has a wedge-shaped engaging piece 8 energized by a spring while the receiving body 15 has an engaging hole 22 in which the engaging piece 8 is fitted. Furthermore, at the bottom of the receiving body 15 a spring-energized pusher 19 is mounted, and only by pushing the pusher 19 the engaging piece 8 can be easily removed from the engaging hole 22, so as to open the door.
