PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle cable capable of lowering a surge voltage at the time of current chopping by reducing inductance without deteriorating electric characteristics of the cable. SOLUTION: The vehicle cable has an inner conductor 10, an insulation layer 30 formed outside the inner conductor 10, and an outer conductor 50 formed outside the insulation layer 30. The cable has a semi-conductive layer formed at least either between the inner conductor 10 and the insulation layer 30 and between the insulation layer it 30 and the outer conductor 50. The insulation layer 30 is thinner than the insulation layer of a cable having the same specification free of any semi-conductive layer. The provision of such a semi-conductive layer (inner/outer semi-conductive layer 20/40) allows the thinning of the insulation layer 30 without deteriorating the electric characteristics including a dielectric withstand voltage or partial discharge performance, thus allowing the reduction of the inductance of the cable to lead to the lowering of the surge voltage.
