In a press molding process of a cathode ray tube glass panel, the difference in elevation in the temperature of the bottom part in a lower die for molding in cooling the lower die is reduced to render the temperature distribution nearly even and thus to prevent unsatisfactory cooling on the peripheral part and supercooling on the central part. The lower die for molding of a cathode ray tube glass panel is defined by an approximately rectangular bottom part and a side wall part provided on four sides of the bottom part. A gob is cooled indirectly with a coolant supplied from a supply opening provided on a base part below the bottom part toward the central part in the bottom part. The lower die is characterized in that a shielding plate for shielding the flow of the coolant is provided between the bottom part and the supply opening, a distributor is mounted, on the base part, so as to face the bottom part, and the distributor is provided so as to locate at a position on the outer side of the outer periphery of the shielding plate when the center of the supply opening is regarded as a reference point.
|
