<p>The infrastructure of an existing cellular telecommunications network is adapted to a new telecommunications technology. The adapting is carried out by means of installing base stations at only specific sites and covering the rest of the system' s area by means of remotely programmable repeaters. Thus, the network evolves in that the existing technology remains operational and the new technology gets installed in a cost-effective manner.</p> |
