<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authenticity determining article or a medium with an authenticity determining article, having very high counterfeit-preventing property and facilitating accurate determination of authenticity. <P>SOLUTION: The authenticity determining article, having cholesteric liquid crystal layers disposed over and under a retardation film or a retardation layer, wherein a cholesteric liquid crystal layer (A) disposed on one surface of the retardation film or retardation layer, and a cholesteric liquid crystal layer (B) disposed on the other surface of the retardation film or retardation layer are different in form from each other. The authenticity determining article comprises a combination of the cholesteric liquid crystal layer (A) and the cholesteric liquid crystal layer (B). The authenticity determining article is configured, in such a manner that when the article is observed through a polarizing plate, the appearance of the cholesteric liquid crystal layer (A) and the cholesteric liquid crystal layer (B) differs from each other, with the color of one liquid crystal layer being visible, while the color of the other liquid crystal is made invisible. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
