<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake device of an internal combustion engine having a simple structure, which can carry out functions of a diesel throttle valve and a swirl control valve. <P>SOLUTION: In the intake device 1 of the internal combustion engine, an air intake passage 4 is divided into a first intake manifold 2 and a second intake manifold 3. The intake device 1 includes a flow control valve 8 on the upstream side of a partition section 7 for dividing the air intake passage 4, the flow control valve 8 having a valve element 9 pivotally supported on an inner wall 28 of the air intake passage 4 so as to control a cross-sectional area of the air intake passage 4 on the upstream side of the partition section 7 by rotating the valve element 9, thereby controlling an amount of air flowing into the first intake manifold 2 and an amount of air flowing into the second intake manifold 3. The flow control valve 8 controls the valve element 9 so that it can be positioned at a first location where the cross-sectional area of the air intake passage is zero, a second location where the air is supplied to only the second intake manifold 2, or a third location where the air is supplied to both the first intake manifold 2 and the second intake manifold 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
