<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which when copying image data into a portable medium, correctly collates the holder of the portable medium and can notify persons around that image data of high confidentiality is copied. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a managing means for giving each image data two types of confidentiality levels being an absolute confidentiality level determined absolutely on the basis of an image ID of the image data and a relative confidentiality level determined relatively on the basis of both the image ID and a user ID and managing each of the image data. Further, the image forming apparatus is provided with a copying means for copying the image data into the portable medium and a warning means for generating colors of a display panel and sound of a speaker corresponding to a confidentiality level during copying. Thus, the persons around can be notified that the image data of high confidentiality is copied. In addition, the image forming apparatus is provided with a collating means for issuing a password corresponding to the confidentiality level and requesting the input of the password when copying is performed.
