<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote operation system capable of providing unified operability to various electronic apparatuses different in function and specification. <P>SOLUTION: An external controller 3 makes communication with an apparatus body to acquire apparatus information from the apparatus body, generates and displays an operation menu on the basis of the acquired apparatus information. Further, the external controller 3 transmits job setting information set on the displayed operation menu by a user to the apparatus body with a communication format designated in the apparatus information in response to a user's instruction.
