<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring method and device for catalytic agent performance, particularly reducing agent occlusion capability of a catalytic agent. <P>SOLUTION: An autoexhaust posttreatment device of an internal combustion engine 1 is equipped with an engine block 10 and an exhaust pipe 20 having at least one catalytic agent 60. A reactant required for reducing NOx inside the catalytic agent 60 is injected in an upstream side of the catalytic agent 60 by an injector 40. In the autoexhaust posttreatment device monitoring method, at a given reference driving point, a reducing agent flow volume is increased till ammonia overflow is detected by an ammonia sensor 80 inside the exhaust pipe 20 in a backside of a flowing direction of the catalytic agent 60. As a result, an optimal flow volume ensured thereby permits high NOx conversion at a minimum ammonia overflow, thus bringing about advantage over the particularly severe exhaust fume standard. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
