<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body which prevents a foreign object or part of a human body from being unawarely caught, and which reduces the possibility of injury or damage. <P>SOLUTION: It is a well-known possibility that a sliding door and a window of a vehicle are operated by external force, especially opened and closed by an electric motor. When very high resistance prevents the operation by external force, a system is applied which suspends or reverses the closing movement of the sliding door or the window. Thus, it is recognized especially that the foreign object has been caught, and injury or damage to a property can be prevented. However, when the sliding door and the opening window are combined, it becomes also possible that the foreign object projecting through the window opened in the operating range of the sliding door is grasped by the movement of the sliding door. In order to minimize the danger of injury or damage to the property, the open/close condition of the window is grasped before or while the window is opened, and the open/close movement of the sliding door is allowed based on the grasped condition that the window is closed.
