PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a belt retracting device used for a seat belt device restraining a body of an occupant with webbing, and taking up and retracting the webbing when needed. SOLUTION: This belt retracting device 10 comprises a frame 12, a spool 22 taking up a thin width strap 20 connected to a webbing, a torsion shaft 24, a gear 30, a pinion 36, a rack 38, a cylinder 40, a gas generator 42, and a bolt 48. In the belt retracting device 10, the bolt 48 which is a supporting shaft of the pinion 36 mounts the pinion 36 to a plate material of a vehicle body, so that a part mounted to the vehicle body is compact and the belt retracting device 10 can be miniaturized.
