PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polylactic acid expanded particle for in-mold expansion molding by which an in-mold expansion molded product having excellent heat resistance and mechanical strength is obtained. SOLUTION: The method for producing the polylactic acid resin expanded particle for the in-mold expansion molding is carried out as follows. A polylactic acid resin and an acrylic-styrenic compound having an epoxy group are fed to an extruder to produce an extruded foam. The resultant extruded foam is then cut into a particulate form to produce the expanded particle. In the method, the polylactic acid resin contains optical isomers of both the D- and the L-isomers as a constituent monomer component and the content of whichever smaller of the D- or the L-isomer is <5 mol% or only either one of the optical isomer of the D- or L-isomer is contained as the constituent monomer component. The polylactic acid resin expanded particle is regulated so as to provide <30% open-cell ratio and <30% crystallinity. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
