PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the treatment of advanced cancer in which the response ratio is increased and/or the side action is decreased. SOLUTION: The method for the treatment of advanced cancer in a patient in need of such treatment includes a step to administer temozolomide andα-interferon in an amount sufficient to achieve a clinical response. In one embodiment, the temozolomide is administered for 2-10 days in an amount of 50-400 mg per 1 m<SP>2</SP>of the surface area of the patient per day, and theα-interferon is administered 1-7 times per one week by intravenous or subcutaneous administration at a rate of 1,000,000-25,000,000 IU per 1 m<SP>2</SP>of the surface area of the patient.
