PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wave type distance sensor having low temperature dependency, capable of detecting a distance excellently even in the case of a short-distance object. SOLUTION: This electric wave type distance sensor includes a pulse generation means 1 for generating a periodical reference signal fa corresponding to a detection distance, a transmission means 2 for transmitting modulated signals F, Fa by performing amplitude deviation modulation of the reference signal fa, a reception means 3 for receiving the modulated signals F, Fa reflected by an object 10 and demodulating them into a pulsed reception signal fb, and a distance detection means 5 for detecting the distance to the object 10 based on the reference signal fa and the demodulated reception signal fb. The sensor also includes a phase difference detection means 4 for generating a phase difference pulse fc by taking an exclusive OR between the demodulated reference signal fa and the reception signal fb, and a distance detection means 5 for detecting the distance to the object 19 based on the phase difference pulse fc.
