PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently provide exhaust pulses to an external EGR or an internal EGR while suppressing pumping loss in a multi-cylinder engine having an external EGR device 40 recirculating a part of exhaust gases from an exhaust passage to an intake passage or an internal EGR device 50 reversely flowing exhaust gases to cylinders by opening exhaust valves during the intake stroke. SOLUTION: This multi-cylinder engine comprises nozzle parts 23a, 23b converging the downstream side of the collecting part of exhaust manifolds 9a, 9b toward the merging part 11, a diffuser part 29 gradually expanding the merging part 11 from the nozzle opening to the downstream side after temporarily converging, and an adopter 21 interposed in the merging part 11 of the nozzle parts 23a, 23b. The adopter 21 comprises a guide 22 in which a through-hole 27 forming a part of the merging part 11 and the nozzle parts 23a, 23b inserted into the manifolds 9a, 9b to converge the downstream side of the collecting part toward the merging part 11 are formed, or/and a guide 28 forming the diffuser part 29 inserted into the merging part 11 to gradually expand the merging part 11 together with a through-hole 27 toward the downstream side after temporarily converging.
