PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for enlarge-working a shaft accompanied with the optimum heating to the shaft material by making clear of a shaft enlarge deforming behavior and deforming mechanism under such high temperature condition as to accompany with a heat-radiation cooling from the shaft material to a holding part and making clear of the effect of a blue brittleness in the shaft enlarge-working process influenced to the workability, in the shaft enlarge-working method accompanied with the heating to the shaft material. SOLUTION: In the case of performing the shaft enlarge-working method for forming the desirable enlarged part to the optional position in a work W by holding the work W as the shaft material with a pair of holding parts 2, 2 and at least imparting compression pressure, bending and rotation around the axial center of the work W to the work W between the holding parts 2, 2; the work W is heated. This heating process for heating the work W is performed before applying the shaft enlarge-working to the work W or before applying the shaft enlarge-working and during the shaft enlarge-working to the work W, and at least the temperature of the portion desiring the enlarge-forming of the work W during the shaft enlarge-working is made to the temperature of exceeding the blue brittleness temperature zone, so as to apply the shaft enlarge-working to the work W.
