PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for allowing a person other than a skilled operator to operate a probe or allowing a robot to scan the body surface and quickly extract a diagnosis criterion tomogram of the heart useful for a diagnosis support for providing a medical institution, where a medical specialist stands by, with an organ tomographic image necessary for a diagnosis in environment capable of constructing a remote medical system by the development of communication technology. SOLUTION: This ultrasonograph is provided with functions for detecting the mitral valve of the heart by an intensity change rate, drawing a polygon around the mitral valve on a display of this ultrasonograph, calculating the contraction motion of the ventricular wall in a triangular region formed by connecting the vertices of the polygon to the center, measuring time-series variations of the contractile rate and automatically detecting a short-axis image, or the diagnosis criterion tomogram of the heart.
