<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a human cDNA encoding a new protein of a vascular endothelial cell growth factor family and use of the cDNA. <P>SOLUTION: The invention provides VEGF-D, a new member of the PDGF family of growth factors, especially stimulating endothelial cell proliferation and angiogenesis and increasing vascular permeability.
