<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosensitive printing plate material having excellent plate wear, scumming resistance in printing, especially after printing suspension for a long time and also scumming resistance at the time of imprinting, and a support for backing up the lithographic printing plate material, a method for manufacturing the support, and a method for making a photosensitive lithographic printing plate from the photosensitive lithographic printing plate material. <P>SOLUTION: In this method for manufacturing the support for the lithographic printing plate material, an unevenness pattern is transferred to an aluminum sheet containing 0.1 to 0.4 mass% Mg (magnesium), 0.001 to 0.02 Ga (gallium) and not lower than 99.0 mass% Al (aluminum), Next, this aluminum sheet with an unevenness pattern formed on the surface is electrochemically subjected to a surface roughening process in (1) an aqueous nitric acid solution and an aqueous hydrochloric acid solution in an arbitrary order.
