PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reed switch element which increases the range of turn-on values of reed switch elements available in combination with a magnet, by reducing the difference between the turn-on and turn-off values, and thus ensures stable mass production in reed switch production. SOLUTION: A pair of reeds 29, 29 is sealed in an insulation container. differential reed switch, with a difference in switching response of smaller than or equal to a 3-ampere turn, regardless of the turn-on value, these reeds 29, 29 are constituted at a location where one end (contact) 29a of one reed 29 overlaps that of another reed 29 (overlapping length L), the aspect ratio W/t for the contact reed area (width W×thickness t) is made 5 times or larger, and the contact overlap area (L×W) is made two times or larger than the reed area.
