PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium, capable of suppressing film from peeling off resulting from anodic oxidation and obtaining high yield, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: On a disk-shaped substrate 1, a base layer 2, a soft backing layer 3 and an interlayer 4 are sequentially formed. As the interlayer 4, an aluminum oxide layer or an oxide silicon layer, for example, can be used and can be formed by a sputtering method or an evaporation method, for example. Thickness of the interlayer 4 is, for example, set to approximately 10 nm or less. On the interlayer 4, an Al layer 5 is formed. By applying anodic oxidation processing to the Al layer 5 (alumite treatment), a part from a surface of the Al layer 5 to designated depth is changed to an alumite layer 6 in which pore 6a exists. By immersing in dilute phosphoric acid solution, and the like, diameter of the pore 6a is increased. Inside the pore 6a, a ferromagnetic metal pillar 7 is filled up. On the alumite layer 6 filled with the ferromagnetic metal pillar 7 inside the pore 6a, a protective coat 9 and a lubricant film 10 are formed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
