PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide necessary services for a user who does not have the knowledge of functions/performance of each apparatus of an information processing system (client-server system). SOLUTION: Information processing apparatus 101, 104, 111 and 117 interconnected through a network 110 are provided with QOS tables 102, 105, 112 and 118 for registering functions/performance. The QOS tables are automatically registered in a local directory 108 on the network when the apparatus are connected to the network 110. Agents 103, 106, 113 and 119 convert the contents of the QOS tables into service information, which is provided for the user through a user interface. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
