PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle detector capable of being installed without laying a power line, and a reversely traveling vehicle detection system provided with the vehicle detector. SOLUTION: In the vehicle detector 1, two thermopile elements are used as a sensor and a solar power part provided with a panel part 11P is provided as a power supply means for the sensor. By this constitution, the vehicle detector 1 can be easily installed on a road 100 without laying the power line. On the road 100, an alarming means 2 provided with an alarm output part 21 is disposed. The vehicle detector 1 outputs reversely traveling vehicle information in an information output part 14 when detecting a reversely traveling vehicle 300R, the alarming means 2 receives the reversely traveling vehicle information in an information input part 20, and a control part 22 turns on the power of the alarm output part 21 and outputs alarm information.
