An apparatus and a method for lens shading correction are disclosed. The lens shading correction apparatus determines the position of a correction object pixel, calculates the distance between the correction object pixel and the center pixel, generates the compensation coefficient of the correction object pixel in accordance with the distance between the correction object pixel and the center pixel, and performs a correction by using the input pixel of the correction object pixel and the compensation coefficient. With the present invention, the lens shading correction apparatus can decrease the system volume a lot and improve the lens shading correction efficiency.
