<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely collect untransferred toner on an image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has: an image carrier 12; a toner image forming means 14 for forming a precedent toner image on the image carrier and then forming a following toner image on the image carrier a first wait time later; toner image transfer means 16 to 22 for transferring the precedent toner image on the image carrier to a recording material S and then transferring the following toner image on the image carrier to the recording material the first time later; and a toner collecting means 26 for collecting and carrying the untransferred toner left on the image carrier and returning the carried untransferred toner to the toner image forming means when no toner image is formed. The toner image forming means waits a second wait time longer than the first wait time before the toner image forming means forms the predetermined toner image on the image carrier, and the toner image transfer means waits the second wait time before the toner image transfer means transfers the predetermined toner image formed on the image carrier to the recording material, and the toner collecting means returns the carried untransferred toner to the toner image forming means in the second time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
