PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an "audio reproducing apparatus" capable of placing a limit on supply of an audio signal while suppressing a listener from feeling a sense of incongruity. SOLUTION: When the temperature of a power amplifier 16 is a second threshold value or over or the temperature of a speaker 30 is a third threshold value or over, in the case that a DC signal corresponding to the audio signal is less than a first threshold value, a protection circuit 22 in an amplifier unit 10 limits the supply of the audio signal to the power amplifier 16 and the speaker 30. Further, after the supply of the audio signal is limited, when the temperature of the power amplifier 16 is less than the second threshold value and the temperature of the speaker 30 is less than the third threshold value, in the case that the DC signal corresponding to the audio signal is less than the first threshold value, the protection circuit 22 releases the supply limit.
