PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder fuel injection type internal combustion engine in which a suitable air-fuel mixture is generated when a fuel injection valve is disposed at the upper part of a combustion chamber and a control means for the cylinder fuel injection type internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This cylinder fuel injection type internal combustion engine 100 comprises a piston 1 having a top face in which a cavity 1a is formed and the fuel injection valve 2 having an injection hole facing the cavity 1a in the state of being disposed at the upper part of the combustion chamber 5. The cavity 1a has a projecting part 1b. The projecting part 1b has a recessed part 1c including the portion against which the spray of a fuel injected from the fuel injection valve 2 is collided. The opening part of the recessed part 1c is formed in such a size that includes the spray F to be collided when the piston 1 is positioned within a predetermined range from a top dead center. An ECU 50 so controls the fuel injection valve 2 as to inject a fuel when the piston 1 is positioned near the top dead center in the intake stroke. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
