PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dead bolt driving method simple in structure with a small number of parts, low in cost, failing little, and providing a smooth and good feeling of manual operation. SOLUTION: An output gear 5 is rotated by an instruction signal of unlocking operation and the rotation of a thumb-turn, and a connected external screw driving gear 4 is also rotated along with it. Then, an external screw 9 integral with the external screw driving gear 4 is also rotated in a screw fastening direction, and an internal screw 8 is drawn to move a dead bolt 7 integral with the internal screw 8, in an unlocking direction by the guide of lateral movement of the internal screw 8 and lateral movement of a dead bolt frame hole guide 10.
