In a map data display device, a resolution level of map data displayed on the display device is set to be different every displayed data region during a scrolling period of the map data. Preferably, map data corresponding to a region in a direction reverse to a scrolling direction is displayed in a lower resolution level than those corresponding to a region in the scrolling direction.
