PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for forming molten metal, which apparatus is configured so as to melt metallic material by means of a heating cylinder without using a melting furnace, and can prevent such a fault that a part of the metallic material newly supplied is exposed to the air for a long time even when the amount of the molten metal to be charged into a metallic die is small. SOLUTION: A newly charged cylindrical metallic material is completely pushed in the heating cylinder retaining an inert gas atmosphere inside its rear end portion irrespective of the charging amount to the metallic die.
