PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for forming a coating film, by which the coating film can easily be formed uniformly even on a windowpane or the like of an already-built building. SOLUTION: The instrument 1 for forming the coating film on the windowpane 2 arranged perpendicularly to the floor surface or the ground is provided with: at least a pair of guide members 3 each of which is arranged perpendicularly to the windowpane 2 in the front thereof; slide members 4 each of which is slid along any of guide members 3; a horizontal member 5 fit astride to slide members 4; and a coating material holding body 6 fit to the horizontal member 5. The coating liquid-infiltrated coating liquid holding body is brought into contact with a plate-like body being the windowpane and the slide members 4 are slid respectively along guide members 3 to form the coating film on the windowpane 2.
