BACK-LIGHT ASSEMBLY AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

A backlight assembly and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) are provided to prevent a pin hole phenomenon and to remove the generation possibility of ozone, thereby enhancing the reliability of products. An external electrode fluorescent lamp(300) is received into a receiving container(200) and includes a lamp body containing the discharge gas therein and an external electrode formed at both ends of the lamp body. A lamp fixing member(400) is combined with the external electrode fluorescent lamp. The lamp fixing member includes lamp fixing members with a socket shape for encapsulating the external electrode and combined with the external electrode fluorescent lamp. An inverter(500) is arranged at the outside of the receiving container and applies the discharge voltage to the lamp fixing member. The external electrode fluorescent lamp and the lamp fixing member are combined in parallel with each other. The lamp fixing member also includes a socket connecting member for electrically connecting the lamp fixing members.
