[Also in Division C7] The disclosure is similar to that of Specification 1,243,537, but the claims are limited to an assembly of nipple and electrode section wherein the desired spacing between the non- loaded flanks of the thread of nipple and of the socket of the electrode socket is maintained by filling the space between the base of the nipple and bottom of the socket with a material which expands on cooling. One embodiment has the expanded material filling an offset hole in the base of the socket to key the socket and nipple together. The expandable material may be a foamable resin, e.g. polyurethane, p.v.c. or polystyrene. Alternatively, certain alloys which expand on solidification may be used.</p> |
