<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a new catalyst having a composition capable of reducing loss as a result of an improved conversion of ethylbenzene and a restricted secondary reaction when an aromatic compound having 8 carbon atoms per molecule is used for isomerization. <P>SOLUTION: A catalyst is provided with at least one kind of zeolite having an EUO-structural-pattern, at least one kind of zeolite having a NES-structural-pattern, at least one kind of metal selected from metals of the group IIIA, the group VIB, the group VIIB and the group VIII and at least one kind of porous inorganic matrix.
