<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator member suitable for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell at low cost, which has small electric specific resistance and its anisotropy and excellent gas impermeability. <P>SOLUTION: The separator member for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell consists of a plate-shaped molded body of a graphite/cured resin. which is composed of graphite powder of 100 pts.wt. made by mixing artificial graphite powder having the mean particle diameter A of 1 to 15μm with natural graphite powder having the mean particle diameter B of A×(2 to 20)μm by 80:20 to 60:40 in weight ratio and thermosetting resin of 10 to 35 pts.wt. The graphite powder is tied with thermosetting resin and made in one body and the plate-shaped molded body has the property of the electric specific resistance of not more than 0.02Ωcm, the anisotropic ratio of the electric specific resistance of not more than 2 and the gas impermeability of not more than 10<SP>-6</SP>cm<SP>3</SP>/cm<SP>2</SP>.min. In its manufacturing method, the graphite powder, the thermosetting resin, dispersion medium and dispersant are mixed to make a slurry. The slurry is molded into a plate by the heat-pressure molding method, or adhered on a substrate sheet to make a green sheet and molded into a plate by the heat-pressure molding method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
