<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of reducing a toner consumption required for a deposit removing operation and obtaining a good image quality. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes an image carrier and an image carrier cleaning means for removing unnecessary toner on the image carrier and is operated so as to remove deposits on the image carrier by removing a toner image formed on the image carrier by the image carrier cleaning means without transferring the toner image to a transfer material such a paper sheet. A pattern shape of the toner image formed on the image carrier in the deposit removing operation is varied on the basis of prescribed information relating to a user condition of the apparatus. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
