PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing glass article having a large contrast ratio in a broad bandwidth. SOLUTION: The polarizing glass article is phase-separated by precipitating silver, copper or copper-cadmium halide crystals in the glass within a size range of 200-5,000Å, and the article contains elongated silver, copper or copper-cadmium metal particles formed on or in the halide crystals, and having an elongated aspect ratio of at least 2:1.
