PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power line carrier communication system allowing safe work in replacing a coupler or temporarily separating it from a system. SOLUTION: Couplers 3 for the power line carrier communication system are each provided with three connection terminals 30 connected mutually in series and connected to a master set 2 or other couplers 3 via a power line L; a slave set connection terminal 32 to be connected to a slave set 1 via a power line L of another system not directly connected to the master set 2; a communication coupler 31 provided between the connection terminals 30 and the slave set connection terminal 32, and interrupting a communication signal having a commercial power source frequency while allowing a communication signal having a frequency higher than the commercial power frequency to pass; and a switching means 33 for turning on/off connection between the connection terminals 30 and the connection coupler 31.
