PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce time and effort of operation by an user in a recording device such as DVD recorder, when a photographing data of a DV camera is to be dubbed to a recording device. SOLUTION: If a DV camera is connected to the DVD recorder (S1), an equipment control part detects that the equipment is connected (S2), and performs detection of a power supply status of a control oriented microcomputer is (S3). When the power supply of the control oriented microcomputer is off (NO in S4), the equipment control part switches to ON the power supply of the control oriented microcomputer (S5). The control oriented microcomputer carries out decision as to whether the DV camera has been connected (S6). Here, when it is decided that it has been connected (YES at S7), the state of the DV camera is decided (S8). As a result of this, when it is in a tape reproduction mode (YES in S9), the controlling microcomputer transmits a rewinding command for tape to the DV camera (S9). If the DV camera performs reproduction and transmission of the photographic data from a head of the tape (S10), this piece of photographic data is dubbed to the DVD (S11).
